The building immediately South of City Hall commonly referred to as “Old City Hall” is deteriorating at a slow but steady pace. It has been the home of the Fire and Police Departments, Library, Selective Service Board and all of City Government.

The time has come when we need to decide its future.

Cost of renovation is roughly estimated in the hundreds of thousands, demolition in the tens of thousands.

Nostalgically, the hose tower is one of the few left in the State, the façade is classic.

We would like input from you to help us determine the course of action to take.

There are grants/ loans available for renovation of historically significant buildings, which “Old City Hall” would qualify for.

A new building could be used to house the Police garage; much needed storage, the historical Society offices and museum and meeting space.
